New features in the Easypromos platform – July 2015

We have updated the Easypromos platform with a raft of new features and improvements. Their objective is to make it easier for administrators to create and manage promotions, while improving the experience of participants and providing them with new dynamics for taking part. You can find out about all these new features in this post.

1. New labels system in the admin panel

In order to facilitate the administration of campaigns carried out with Easypromos, the administration panel has been updated with a new labels system to accompany promotions created with the platform. This new tags system serves two main purposes:

  1. To organize promotions from within the admin panel: The administrator will be able to create and associate customized labels for each promotion. These will help him/her to classify the promotions as they are created. The tags can be customized with different colors for greater convenience, and the administrator can create as many as are necessary.
  2. Manage the system of collaboration between various users: The tags can be shared among a number of users. In this way, if the administrator wishes to share the management of a promotion with other users, he/she can use collaborative labels to control which users can view and administer the promotion.

2. The option of not linking the promotion to a Facebook Page

Until now, when creating a promotion the administrator had to link it to a Facebook Page. From now on, this step is optional: the administrator can decide whether or not to link the promotion to a Facebook Page.

Here we explain what it means to link the promotion to a Facebook Page and when this option might be useful.

3. New feature of the identification system: optional and visible Facebook login

By default, promotions come configured without obligatory Facebook login, meaning that the participant can identify him or herself via email if he/she prefers. To make the option of user identification more visible, the administrator can configure the promotion to automatically display a pop-up window for connecting via Facebook. This window will pop up when the user reaches the entry form.

Here we explain how to configure user identification so that you can apply the model that best fits your promotion.

4. New additional fields for customizing the entry form: autocompletable lists and radio buttons

Collecting the participants’ registration details is one of the most important objectives of many administrators. Because of this, entry form of the application has been updated with two new additional fields, available in all promotions created with Easypromos Premium and White Label:

  • Autocomplete list: The user enters text into the field provided and the application suggests the possible response. This option could be of interest if you want participants to guess the answer from a list of options, but without explicitly suggesting the possible answers. You can see this in the following example:

  • List of radio buttons: The user must select one of the options suggested by simply clicking on it. This format might be useful when holding a survey to collect information about your users, as in the following example:

Both fields can be set up as optional or obligatory for the user. You can also make them public, meaning that the user’s answers are published in the contest gallery.

5. Improvement in the system for moderating participations

The platform now offers a system of moderation of participations in the Premium and White Label versions, enabling the management of images, texts and videos that are presented publicly in the gallery, as well as those which aren’t. Now the process is simpler: with a third state especially designed for pre-moderation where participations are kept in a “pending” state until the administrator can check them and either accept or refuse them for publication. The system also enables the creation of emails to inform participants about the state of their participation, enabling greater dynamization of the contest.

6. Display barcodes and QR codes to users

The promotional codes application, which enables you to give away promotional and discount codes to users after they have registered for the promotion, has been updated and now permits the code to be displayed in two new formats:

1. Barcodes: after inserting all the codes that you wish to give away, the application will automatically convert them into a bar code format. This will be shown to the user on the final Thank You screen. In this way, if there is a reader or scanner at the point of sale, this new format will make it easier to redeem the discount code.

2. QR Code: similarly, you must first preload all the codes that you wish to give away. The application will then display a unique QR image that, once scanned, will give the user the promotional code that has been assigned:

7. Customizable “Created by” box in all versions of the platform

With the aim of providing maximum visibility to the brand organizing the promotion, all promotions created with any version of Easypromos (Basic, Premium and White Label), now incorporate the ‘Created by’ box: a short text displayed at the bottom of all pages in the promotion.

This means that the administrator will be able to customize this text to state the name of the brand or company, as well as including, if desired, a link to an external URL in order to direct traffic to an external website.

Note: for promotions created with the White Label version, the “Created by” text will be the only text shown at the foot of the promotion and no reference to Easypromos will be made.

8. New “Smart Tags” in the Emails platform

Including “Smart Tags” in emails that are sent automatically to participants via the emails platform enables you to customize the messages and provide them with interesting information for participants. For example, you could to indicate a participant’s progress in the contest (number of votes obtained, number of recruits), send them their discount code, remind them about their link to encourage them to keep recruiting, etc. Now the emails platform has been updated with two new “Smart Tags”:

  1. Smart Tag for sending the barcode or QR code: this enables the barcode or QR code that has been assigned to the user to be included in the email sent to the user.
  2. Smart tag for including share buttons across the social networks: enables you to include buttons for sharing the promotion in Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp (only smartphone connections) in the email.

9. Introduction of statistics about emails sent through the platform

The Emails Platform has been expanded with statistical information about the sending of each group of emails. From now on, it will be possible to find out the number of emails sent, the percentage of emails opened and the number of links clicked on, as well as the last emails that have been sent.

10. Improvement in the system for rapid publication of promotions

Do you manage various Facebook Pages? The Rapid Publication System, enabling you to install and publish the promotion tab in Facebook with a single click, has been updated and now displays a dropdown menu with all the Facebook Pages managed by the user:

The main new feature of this update it that now the dropdown menu will show you a list with all your pages, so that you can easily indicate in which pages you wish to publish the promotion, without having to change the promotion to another page.

11. New design of the Facebook plugin

The My Networks module – the window displayed during the registration process, inviting participants to follow the brand in Facebook and Twitter – has been updated with the new Facebook Page Plugin. The main new feature of the plugin is a greater prominence of the logo and the name of the Facebook Page, providing greater visibility to the brand:

This new Facebook Page Plugin is also shown on the final Thank You page of the promotion.

12. Update of the Sweepstakes in Facebook application

At the start of September 2013, after Facebook changed their promotions guidelines to allow promotions to be posted directly on the wall of a Page, Easypromos launched the Sweepstakes in Facebook application. This tool makes it possible to covert, with a single click, a Facebook Page post into a sweepstakes for all uses who ‘like’ the post or leave a comment.

Almost two years after we first launched the application, we have updated the tool with the following news:

  1. New design of the editing interface and configuration of sweepstakes.
  2. Incorporation of management tools and tools for excluding participants:
    • Participant blacklist: enables you to keep a list of users who you want to prevent from participating in your Facebook sweepstakes.
    • Exclusion of previous winners: when carrying out sweepstakes on a regular basis, this feature will help you avoid giving prizes to the same users.
    • Exclusion of specific users: enables you to exclude any user at any point during the course of the sweepstakes.
  3. Carry out a sweepstakes among all users who have answered with a specific hashtag. When carrying out a sweepstakes among users who comment on a Facebook post, you can filter the users according to whether they have included a specific hashtag in the comment. This enables you to exclude any user who doesn’t include the hashtag. Find out here how to carry out a sweepstakes among users who have used a specific hashtag.
  4. Customizable screen for publishing winners: Upon finalizing the sweepstakes, the system will provide you with customizable template you can use to publish the winners and alternates, together with the link to the certificate of validity.

13. New free tool for creating and hosting the legal bases

Are you thinking about creating a sweepstakes on Facebook based on a post on your wall? Do you want to carry out a sweepstakes on Twitter among all your followers, or just among those who retweet your tweets? With these types of sweepstakes in mind, we have developed a free tool enabling the administrator to create and host the legal bases of any type of sweepstakes or contest.

The tool is available from the Easypromos administration panel and is especially designed for sweepstakes that are developed outside the standard application of the platform. It will enable you to customize a webpage where you can include the text that will form the legal bases of the promotion or sweepstakes. You can use the URL that is generated to disseminate the page among users and participants.

14. Option of inserting pixel tracking in Premium promotions

The “JavaScript, HTML and own code” field has been enabled on the final page so that administrators can insert pixel tracking in Premium promotions and so carry out more exhaustive monitoring of their campaigns. This field is located in the Promotions Editor on the Thank You Page.
